Can you believe it's Puyallup Fair time again? All of us who volunteer and work at the Fair have been busy for months preparing for "The Big Fantastic" and are looking forward to you joining us!
The Puyallup Fair offers many wonderful things to see and do if you are interesting in sewing, needlework and crafts of any type. Here's a list of events and exhibits that you won't want to miss during your visit.
Things to See Every Day
Pavilion Building
The Pavilion Building is host to both the Home Arts exhibits and the Education building.
Upstairs: These are the open class Home Arts exhibits. Hundreds of quilts on display as well as garments, needlework, knitting, crochet and more. Downstairs: See quilts, clothing and crafts created by 4-H youth aged 9-19 from around Washington state. Watch Public Presentations given by 4-H youth on a variety of topics. This floor also features youth art and arts and crafts from a variety of youth organizations as well as information on local colleges and other opportunities for youth.
Must See: The quilt exhibit. It's breathtaking.
Showplex Building
This is where you'll find the latest technology for sewing, quilting and embroidering from the Quality Sewing staff. Many people wait to buy their new machines at the Fair, and you'll see why! Many Fair specials are available, including a special offer for the first two days of the Fair (see below). Quality Sewing and Pacific Fabrics are major sponsors for the Washington State 4-H Fashion Revue championship at the Fair, so please be sure to thank them for their continuing support and dedication to youth sewing.
Must See: The latest machines - Wow!
Hobby Hall
Connected to the Showplex is the Hobby Hall, where all kinds of crafts are on display. Jewelry, glass, woodworking, leather work, dolls, collections - there is so much to see it's impossible to list it all.
Must see: The Trim-A-Christmas-Tree Contest
Under the Grandstands/Merchant Hall
Under the grandstands in the Northwest corner is the center of activity for local Artists in Action. Ongoing demonstrations of spinning, pottery making, painting and other arts take place here. It is also a store where the local artisans sell their wares - everything from fibers (this is a wonderful place to shop for spinning and felting fiber) and yarns to clothing, jewelry, housewares - so many beautiful things! I always find special things for gifts here every year, and am glad to be able to support our local artist community.
Must See: The Sheep to Shawl Contest and Demonstrations
